Tell us your successes...

Postby JWDesignCenter » Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:02 pm

Ok folks... this can be very inspirational and motivating so I thought i'd make a post on it. I want to use this thread as a place for us all to share our daily successes! Ok so it doesn't even have to be daily, but if you just landed a new client tell us! If you had something wonderful happen with your business or business idea... let's hear about it!

OK Jen, here's why I'm jumping today!

For the first time ever I sold two of my e-books in one day! Of course there was the obligatory sale whilst I slept (I love the internet!) and then follwed later on by another sale.

Next challenge is to make that every day and I would be very happy indeed!

Thanks for the opportunity to glow!

BTW, one activity I often get my clients to undertake, especially when they are starting out with me a bit low on self-confidence, is to record any 5 successes, however small, they may have had each day between coaching conversations - it's truly amazing how that shifts persoecti9ve for a lot of people.

success of the day...

Postby RussellWebb » Thu Feb 28, 2008 10:13 pm

Congrats Martin! Let's see more of that... Can you Imagine 5-10 books a day? Then maybe 10 more niche sites with their own ebooks and you're well on your way to the Info Product Empire glamor shot with you and your nice cars and the mansion in the background... ok, I know it's not your style. That's a great start though!

I had a good day, received a call from a past client and they placed a nice size order. It's nice when they just appear like that and give you a little surprise.

This is one area I need to develop and that's Past Customer follow ups - I have a healthy list of customers that need to hear from me more often.

Hey Russell thanks - you have me all excited now - what a brilliant and encouraging post.

Tell me...

"This is one area I need to develop and that's Past Customer follow ups - I have a healthy list of customers that need to hear from me more often."

...what's the first step you could take to make this happen for you and by when, with how many?

Just returning the favor

One extra thing too - with my new office, I decided that I'd better be better at managing my finances.

As of today, for the first time in 6 years in business on my own, my accounts will be ready to give to my accountant as my financial year ends!

It will help my forward business planning too no end.

WOW!

follow-up strategy

Postby RussellWebb » Fri Feb 29, 2008 8:29 pm

That's great to have those finances in order - Since setting up Quickbooks several years ago, we have experienced smooth sailing in that area, and it is a good feeling. It does take some effort - but well worth it.

...what's the first step you could take to make this happen for you and by when, with how many?

Well, that's a good question and we have taken that first step. I'm teaching my wife / business partner to clean up our email list - and we're getting all of our past customers in one file. Once this is complete I will create a few follow-up emails that I can 'broadcast' via aweber- at regular intervals... Maybe once a month?

Basically these are corporate clients that have made purchases in the last couple years. So I'm trying to come up with an angle on why to follow up. BTW, These clients have purchased Logo Rugs...

So far I have a couple of ideas...

* A simple 'just checking in' email
* Offer a Special 10% Discount for any future purchases w/ expire date
* Give a promotional gift (some expense involved)
* Offer a free sample of spot cleaner for their rug (some expense involved)

Any ideas will be appreciated!

I came across a great subconscious way to do this. Maybe choosing your best 10 prospects to start and invest a bit of time - face-to-face would do best and by phone will work too.

"I wonder if you could spare me a few moments sometime soon, I need your help..."

It buys into their emotional side (someone needing their help).

After this, you could say you are doing some research to follow up how they used the last service you provided them with as you develop a new product maybe...

You could still give them a freebie - I'd give it as an overdelivery maybe - i.e. an unexpected gift at the end of the session.

Thanks for the mention of Quickbooks. I have a copy I bought when I first started. As my new financial year starts in April, it might just be time to dust it off - or even treat myself to a new version - and I thought I was smart already with my linking Excel!

Top 10 past customers

Postby RussellWebb » Sat Mar 01, 2008 1:23 pm

I like that top 10 approach - I'll start with that... great tip!

Re: QB- it's worth it to have a qualified bookkeeper come in and set up your 'company' and 'chart of accounts' and get you started off right. QB has a huge network to choose from in their support section. Then once your all set-up, you get religious about entering in your data, issuing checks, and reconciling each months statements.

What's great about a program like this, is that you have a number of tools for cross referencing, running reports, tracking invoices, etc...

Back to the topic of this thread.

New success today! I have completed some video filming, a demonstration for a project that I've been working on for my training business. Now I have to start editing, then upload those files into my membership section.

Next week my partner and I will be crossing the finish line of the launch of our new training business. We started January 2007! We will be picking up our 'completed' training DVD's, printing out our manuals, and completing a design catalog (50 designs to start) that's been rendered in Adobe Illustrator - all the designs can be edited.

This was a grueling process that seemed to take forever, done 'after hours' because our main business was keeping us very busy.

This should be a nice investment of our time that pays off for many years to come. :D

oooh oooh, i've got something to share today! I've got about 15 projects on my plate right now, which believe me is just at my limit of what i can handle. And today, i've gotten through more than 3/4 of my list of projects and it's only 2:30! :) I love it when you surprise yourself and bust out a ton of work without even realizing it.

That and i think i found my dream house (we're looking at moving) so i'm hoping i'll hear word and see if we qualify for it :)

My success this week

Postby jvprosperity » Thu Mar 06, 2008 3:00 pm

Congrats Jen, a New house is exciting - I know how you feel. I waited 3 years for my place to get built and now living in it is amazing.

Success this week...

I sent out three birthday cards to business owners last week and I received calls of Thanks which lead to a conversation of what I do and then lead to 9 new referrals for me to followup with.

Hey Andy - That is great!

I just finished the second to last chapter in my new book, The 5 Fatal Flaws - things women do that make them bad at business. I'm working on getting it finished and available for purchase on my website before the end of March.

Yippie!!

Hi Andy,

Yet again it proves, the one who gives is a winner. The stingy ones are the loosers. It happens all around us. It takes a positive attitude to do acts of kindness. Keep up the good work.

Hi Jude,

It must be a good feeling. How to express yourself? Do you just scream: Yeah, I made it. Will you let all yor friends know about it?

Is there any positive part in the book? Who will benefit the most in reading it?

Success this week

Postby TheRainmaker » Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:49 am

Hey Beat! Yes - it feels amazing. Once you set aside the space and just let the writing come. Eckart Tolle describes it as a book that wants to come out and you are just the conduit. Very much like that.

The Book is overall very positive. It brings to light some of the things that women naturally do in their every day lives that hold them back. But it provides a solid system for working past them in order to gain the success and fulfillment they desire and deserve.

i will indeed have an advanced copy available to all my forum friends...I'd love to get your feedback.

Cheers!

That is an important chapter. I've seen women do so many things to sabotage their success. Congratulations on having the book almost finished :) Its a rush every time I finish a book and then when I see it and hold it in my hand --- is so great :) I'm waiting for my latest to get her -- come on mailman :)
