I put something like this on the articles on my pages and it ended up getting abused by spammers who hijacked my server to sent out emails. At first it was hundreds of thousands at a time and then as we put limits on the number of emails that could be sent out they got smarter and started sending only a couple at a time.

The one I used in the past is not the "Tell a Friend" this is very simply a possibility to forward the message just like you forward an email. It was just really handy if I wanted to save the message - great for info or links that I would use for research at a future time :) I just went to the forum where I used to use the feature, but they've changed the site completely and I can't find it. If I stumble across an example I'll post a link for you.

I just checked another one of my forums and on that one its listed as "send this reply". This is the link where I found it, but I can only see it when I'm logged in - http://inspiredauthor.com/forums/index.php?topic=15.0

The owner of the forum is a good friend and an associate of mine. If any info or her contact info would help, let me know. I know many forums work differently, but if it would help to speak with her, I can work it out. She's from Canada too :)

Hi Shri - thanks for the info - is the idea that it loads an email from your own email system (Outlook, etc) that has the link to the forum post?

I brings up a box on a page and it automatically inserts my name and email from my member account, it asks me for the name and email of the person that I want to send the link to and gives me a place to insert a comment along with the link. If you need anything else, let me know :)

PS - I just thought of something - its like the messaging service that I've used on many news articles. It lets me send a link and a message to anyone. Here is an example - http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/career-article ... erview-209 and click on the "email" link.

I would like to know if you would ever try improving your English rather than using spellchecks or do you only use the spellcheck to ensure you have spelled words correctly?

On another note, I most likely would not use an "Email to a friend" tool for the articles or forums. It is not worth implementing a tool that could allow spammers to take advantage of your mail server. This is a one way ticket to being blacklisted by SpamCop.

I like spell check because sometimes I don't realize I am spelling a word wrong, so rather then continuously spelling that word wrong I'd like to know the correct spelling. Also, if I know that I can't spell a word I'll use spell check as a means to learn the correct spelling. One can improve their English using a spell check if they actually take the time to note the correct spelling of the word.

As for calculators, I only use them in math classes when they are required or for equations that are extremely hard to solve without one and to double check my answers on tests.

When discussing the majority of people I would definitely say that most people hit the "Change" or "Ignore" button without thinking too much about the correct spelling of a word. All bosses are concerned about is getting the report to the Directors meeting on time.

That probably depends on what the "majority" are trying to accomplish. I have word set to alert me about misspellings and grammatical problems, so I fix most as I go. But I also add names etc to the dictionary because I get tired of seeing the red and green squiggles when I know the info is right.

If you're only going to click "Change" or "Ignore" then why bother to take the time to use spell check????? Business people that I work for want the info compiled in a timely manner and they want it right - which is fine because that's the way I strive to do any project. Sending out a memo, letter, report etc with obvious spelling and grammatical mistakes makes the person and the company look bad as far as I'm concerned.

Unfortunately in a lot of cases, the grammatical errors in writing aren't limited to only spelling mistakes. It's also very easy to overlook incorrect word choices like "it's" vs "its", "their" vs "they're" vs "there", etc...
