It's okay to follow your passion and build a prototype, but don't mass-manufacture something without first seeing if there is a market for it.

It is true that many aspiring entrepreneurs are so enthralled by belief in their product or service that they think everybody else will be also. But that is not often the case.

Hi Evan,

I agree, as Entrepreneurs we are encouraged to think outside the box and be innovative etc which is fine but when it comes to inventing a product then it is a totally different mindset.

You only have to watch shows like Dragons Den to see how totally blinkered some people are in their belief that they have invented and invested money in products that have no apparent market and will never sell.

Certainly agree with the quote and the responses, Getting some from your brain to paper to the prototype is a challenge with or without a feasibility study and marketing study

If the prototype need funding or seed money, then you get more eyes looking at it, which may kill the deal anyway before manufacture
