Facebook's 40 Most Shared Articles 2011

Postby David Hurley » Thu Jul 05, 2012 10:00 am

Here's a list of the 40 most shared articles on Facebook in 2011.

Can you guess what was #1 - actually, NOT a trivial topic at all, although there is plenty of trivia...

My favourite is #30 - something to cheer up anybody who's just had a job application rejected! :D

... in fact #30 is good enough for a Stage all of its own. Just made this on the basis that a video that went wildly viral might just keep on going...

Hi Dr Don,

Yes, a list of the top 40 shared business articles would be good.

However, in many cases on the Internet, especially with small business operations such as ours, you are the unique product that you are promoting, so the PERSONAL - or at least, if you are savvy about it, your chosen projection of your PERSONA - becomes the key to YOUR BRAND... And one way to project your brand may be to show some goofy videos of YOU doing something crazy, or breathtaking, or funny or whatever (depending on the Persona that goes with your self-branding).

Some people would not be comfortable with showing their toddler twins "talking gibberish" to each other, but for those who are, and who include their family life as part of their projected persona, the amusing antics of their kids can be a POWERFUL traffic generator... and if they are very savvy, they will be working in the "parents and kids" niche I guess...

So true. I have family members who want nothing to do with Social Media (and I am still struggling with my thoughts about using Facebook), and I have at least one family member who is embracing Social Media and posts all kinds of stuff about their kids, "cute" YT videos included (probably hoping they will go viral, lol).

Thanks, a little gibberish goes a long way and I used it to lighten up my business approach to social networking

Gt I use Facebook out of default due to the nature of my business. I think people that look for brand, expect to find you on Facebook. However most of the social stuff, pics. etc are on the wife's page

Thanks for mentioning that, Don. I keep meaning to research how FB works - how to set it up so it's only my marketing stuff, with a little bit of "immediate family only" personal stuff. I just haven't made time to do it yet.

Interesting set of list of few of the most viral article. Seems like interesting thing may not be the one which people want to learn about but more about if it can grab the attention and engage them to look into it.
