I say good for Him, it is hard to argue with success, but
Persistence has never been a word on the top of my tongue, in fact when i saw this post - my thoughts ranged from what is he talking about, why, what is persistence, and "it certainly isn't my single most important for success"
Frankly I nearly turn a deaf ear or a blind eye to headlines "single most importance, the 7 habit - opps I forgot the 8th habit, 3 steps, OK 5 steps to success, the 4p's - 5p's and ow many p's are there in marketing" and and...
OK I admit it I seldom read such books, articles, etc in depth - I look for the big picture; is this new information or a rehash of ideas. I don't get exited abut the latest top business seller. What works for one mans success may be the killer of another. Overcoming obstacles is routine for any business, I accept that having been there done that several times
The single important thing for success is YOU recognizing that your success begins with a process, a series of steps, building 1 step at a time. Which steps, how many steps, where to start - depends on YOU- No magic formula.
Expect that two of us doing exactly the same thing, following the same steps will have different results. Take any well know franchise model; the results varies with each franchisee, location, market, and other variables beyond your control. Persistence does really not help here. Even today, you may note that the popular food franchises are all cross selling other franchisors products. Persistence in marketing only hamburgers or chicken chops doesn't work any more
Let us get back to YOU. Franchises are not YOU, they are someone else YOU; their idea, their passion, their operations plan, their step by step process.
So where were we? Oh yes with YOU. Where do you start? How about words like passion, desire, commitment, believe in yourself and you idea - interest - cause or hobby, research, preparation. love, flexibility, change, and oh yes - I will through in a new word for me "persistence" (as long as it is not misdirected)
Whats most important will vary with YOU - for me it is passion and doing something you love
