Hi Evan,

Yes, please keep grasp-the-nettle.com on the list!

I must be doing something right again at last as my site seems to have crept into the top 200,000 again (198,160)... :D

I wonder if I can get the site into the top 150,000 this year. Not such an ambitious target, but fine for my purposes if I can build targeted traffic.

Thanks!

You can do it, David!

After losing ground drastically with my AR about a month ago, my AR has been slowly improving over the past week, although I have not increased my activity during that time. While it bugs me that I lost so much ground right after a period when I WAS posting lots and expecting an improved rank, I still try to keep it in perspective and use the AR as a personal motivator, not as a success indicator.

Yes Evan please keep my site www.online-income-business.com on the list. It keeps me on my toes and it is exciting to see each month how my site compares against everyone else here.

It can go up and down rapidly Alenmajer but it can go back up just as quickly, sometimes it is just Google doing a bit of tweaking.

Hi Everyone,

Lots of good common sense replies here and as someone who has seen his AR jump up despite a period of increased activity I try not to get too upset about it.

We should remember that AR gives us our rankings based on comparisons with other sites in our niche (or at least that’s as I understand it) so you can be very active but still see your ranking go higher.

What I have learned to do now is to keep a fairly steady and disciplined routine every day and let the rankings look after themselves. I now accept that the AR will continue to fluctuate sometimes wildly so I just plug away and hope for the best,

regards,

Mal.

That is definitely the best attitude to take about AR!

My AR has been slowly improving over the past week or two ... and I don't believe my activity over the past month has been any greater than a couple of months ago when my AR took a definite turn for the worse. So, as you say, Mal, I just try to keep doing what I can do to maintain my online business and while I keep a daily watch on my AR, I don't worry about what it really means.

Thanks for the Alexa update, Evan.

I'm in the "Losing" section, but on the positive side, I have improved somewhat from a month ago! :D

I am expecting the next update to be significantly better, after the effort I put in through January and intend to put in through February.

Thanks for the update Evan and for the words of encouragement; I really appreciate it as I have been going backwards for a while now.

GT, I know how hard you work and I am sure that you will see your rewards next time around. Your worst AR figures are still way better than my best so you are still an inspiration when it comes to work rate,

best regards,

Mal.

Hi, Mal:

Thanks for the comment. I still get confused by your AR because our sites are similar in many ways and may have been started up about the same time and I know you work as hard or harder on the various elements of marketing as I do ... so I don't know why your AR isn't comparable to mine. I keep thinking there may be something in the title tags or meta tags or something that might be keeping it from making the search bots happy. I just don't know. :?

But keep doing what you've been doing and it's bound to come around sooner or later.

Hi GT,

I agree, I really am at a loss to fathom it out and you are right about our sites as I believe we both started with them around the same time. It may well be something to so with titles or tags as you say but I will keep plugging away and hopefully find out why,

best wishes,

Mal.

Well done Mal for making progress in the right direction!

Alexa seems to like my site again, after taking it all the way to the giddy heights of 102,000 then back down to well over 200,000, it has now changed its mind again!

Thanks for posting the Alexa Rankings again Evan.

Well done Mal that is a tremendous improvement, just keep on doing what you have been doing but really don't worry too much about the AR, it just nice as a way to keep us on track.

David I had the same problem with Alexa and Google, who knows why they do what they do either we are in favor or not but I just keep on and hope for the best.
