Making Money in 2011

Hello forum members! As we draw closer to the new year I thought it would be appropriate to change the title of our forum category "Making Money in 2010" to "Making Money in 2011" - I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions and wish everyone a prosperous New Year!

Hi, Evan:

Thanks for introducing this topic for marketing in the New Year. I think the face of online marketing is going to continue to change through the year as the big players in Social Media and social networking battle it out for dominance.

Best practices in Internet Marketing will likewise have to evolve. Video content and video marketing will take a leading role, but video, in my opinion, is not the be all, end all. Smart marketers will have to create an effective blend that includes both video and traditional visual text and graphics.

My personal goals for making money in 2011 include monetizing my APC website more effectively, and also developing a project that ties the Internet into local marketing.

I wish the best of success to everyone in the coming year and hope to see some ideas come forward in this discussion group that will inform and inspire us all!

As noted earlier, I think the use of Social Media in our online marketing is going to increase as the medium continues to evolve. We need to embrace it and learn how best to incorporate it into what we are presently doing.

A question for forum members:

How are you presently using Social Media (social networking) to make money? And how do you plan to expand on that to help you make more money in 2011?

Most of you know that my social networking focus is primarily on two social sites (not including the Entrepreneur Forums):

- Twitter: Where lately I have been mostly just posting lots of tweets with links that point to helpful resources, blog posts on my APC site, social sites, or directly to affiliate pages.

- IM faceplate: Where I have been working at building my presence (branding myself) and have been pointing people to my websites, this forum, and my affiliate pages.

The income generated by these efforts has been minimal to date, but I attribute that to the types of products, services and programs I have been promoting and the fact that many in my target market are promoting the same or similar things, so they don't really need mine. Basically, I need more unique offerings and a better follow-up system.

Of course, the bottom line to everything is website traffic. That is a big focus and a big challenge for 2011 as well.

That's my story, so far. What's yours?

My main focus this year will be towards generating more traffic to my site. Also I have had a self improvement site sitting for nearly two years now which I have not worked on and this year I am determined to get it off the ground, as that is where my main love is - anything connected to body, mind and spirit.

Great goals and an excellent focus on areas where you can make money in 2011!

I remember last year that many of us named "traffic" as one of our biggest challenges and it certainly remains high on my list again this year, although I have made some progress.

How about you? Did you make some improvement in the area of traffic through 2010? And what will you do in the coming year to improve your traffic flow?

Yes I did make some improvement in my traffic generation but not nearly where I want to be, still have a way to go. Generating targeted traffic is not as easy as some people say it is. Yes you can get traffic, but unless it is targeted it does not serve much purpose and is really just a waste of time and effort.

Yes, getting targeted traffic is quite a challenge for most Internet Marketers. I think all the typical recommended methods do still work to some degree, but with the continuing flood of aspiring home business marketers entering the fray, their is so much more activity in all of the places we normally market that the competition makes it more difficult to stand out in the crowd.

I hear you, Yinka. We sometimes get bogged down in the planning process, trying to get everything just right before beginning, maybe sometimes just trying to wrap other things up and get them in order before we begin the new project. Maybe we just need to put those "planning neuroses" behind us and ... Just Do It!

You are quite right, and saying that I haven't had time is really just an excuse. If it is something that you really want to do you will always find the time to do it.

My goals in 2011 is to make obviously more money from google adsense and make more sales for the affiliate products I am currently promoting plus learn more internet marketing strategies for the success of my online business.
