Hi Cathy,
It's a great question. I personally have found Twitter to be more effective. Although, I do think my efforts on Facebook have not been as efficient as what I've been able to do on Facebook -- I find FB harder to navigate and set up. If you were a whiz at FB, you might have better results there.

Bottom line--there isn't a definitive answer, so use what you find easiest and go from there -- that's my advice!

I think it it depends on your business. There is not a clear and concise way to success while using Facebook or Twitter. It depends if it suits to your business and how you use them.

I'm still wrapping my head about ways to utilize twitter with my business, but have had good success with Facebook's fan page. Really depends on your marketing plan, customer base, etc.

Here is an excellent article giving the argument that Twitter is not the be-all-end-all social media tool. Some great points, I think!

I believe twitter is good for free advertising while facebook is good for paying adverts. You can use both for your marketing

I actually don't think Twitter is very effective for "advertising". I use it a little for that but much more to share good (free) resources with others, and build relationships.

I'm curious as to your experience with paying advertising on Facebook. Are you getting a good ROI? Any tips to make it most effective?

Auto Complete in Tweets
Text links in tweets
Display meta data through hover tooltips
Use the sidebar more effectively to display information
Highlight specific users
Add a Built-in URL shortener

What Twitter tool are you using that provides those features?

I use Hootsuite, TweetDeck, and recently added TweetMiner to manage day-to-day tweeting, scheduled tweets, etc.

I use Ad.ly to make money on Twitter Advertising. Aside from that tool, Hummingbird I should say is perfect for targeted followers. :)
