Hi GT,

I think time travel would be better. That way we could just go back a few days and do more work. We'd essentially be able to get more done, and in a sense would be making our days longer.

However, do you think maybe that if we traveled to the past, then it would erase what we had previously done? Or, no matter what we do, the outcome remains the same, like in The Time Machine?

I say we just let the past go. If we can't get it done in the time we have, who wants to go back? I'd be going back all the time. Or perhaps we could turn back the time on our bodies and then keep the rest. LOL Interesting to think about, Alan.

Hi, Alan:

Some think that going back in time and changing anything would create a paradox that would cause the time continuum to collapse. Others suggest that it would just branch off into a new and parallel continuum, both timelines existing simultaneously, but on different tracks.

Yet others think that going back in time would be like rewinding a video and, in that case, potentially erase all that had been done back to that point.

I think the physics and the moral and social responsibilities involved are greater than we can ever handle, so it might be best to keep it out of our control!

Hi, Mary:

You make a good point about the problem some of us would have in wanting to go back frequently to "adjust" things. I'd be going back so much, I would never be able to ever again make any progress forward! It's bad enough revising articles again and again. Never mind the whole world!

GT :)
p.s. Here's another can of worms. What about cloning several copies of ourselves and multiplying our daily output that way? (Of course, it didn't work very well for Michael Keaton in the movie, Multiplicity. Turns out the clones had minds of their own ... not to mention the fact that they were attracted to his wife, just as he was!)

Hi Michelle,

I agree. Just thought it would bring up some interesting debate. :)

I would much rather leave the past alone. Whether you did or didn't do something, you made the decision then, so it's better to live with that decision and learn from it. If you weren't as productive as you should have been, like myself, then all we can do is learn from it and better ourselves. Better said than done, though. ;)

"Others suggest that it would just branch off into a new and parallel continuum, both timelines existing simultaneously, but on different tracks."

Hi GT, that's the philosophy that they came up with in the movie Dejavu with Denzel Washington. Speaking of, he was very close to my hometown shooting his new movie. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see him. :( LOL

Alan,
Where did Denzel shoot a movie? Was it here in Iowa?

He did a lot of the shooting in Tyrone, PA. However, one of the days I was in Pleasant Gap, right near State Collge, PA, he was doing a shoot right in Pleasant Gap at the main diner in town (it's a very small town). It's only about 40 minutes from where I live Lewistown.

Hey, Alan:

Denzel is a great actor. That would have been awesome to visit a shooting location and see him in action.

I haven't seen the flick, Deja Vu. Now, I'll have to add it to my list!

Hi GT,

I could have been an extra, but then I heard even the extras aren't allowed to meet him or get anywhere near him. What a bummer, right?

It's a great movie. I highly recommend it.

This is the way to invent a longer day

Postby ideasuniversity » Fri Nov 13, 2009 5:00 pm

To invent a longer day is just to leverage your time by outsourcing your tasks to people. You can work 48 hours a day by doing this.

Hi Yinka,

Outsourcing is a great option if you don't have the time or want to leverage your time more effectively. Many marketers outsource their marketing and promotion work to others. Not a bad idea at all.

How do you go about finding competent people to do your marketing for you?

Hi Yinka

This is a great way to get more done and frees up time for the jobs you really want to do yourself. Of course one still needs to be focused on what actually constitutes doing the work and what is playing around. I have now put a note up by my computer that says " is what you are doing now benefiting your business" if it is not then I need to put it aside and concentrate on the things that will either bring more traffic to my website or increase the amount of money I am making. Everything else must wait until those tasks are done first. Let's see if I can stick to that

Hi Michelle,

Sounds like I need to do the same. A note like that might just keep me in line and doing what I need to do for my business. It's easy for me to stay focused when it's work I'm doing for clients, whether I'm getting paid hourly or a fixed price, but if it's work for my own business I tend to procrastinate or work rather slow.

Hi Alan

My biggest problem is that I get easily sidetracked and find myself reading emails and doing things that are not really helping build my business. I am hoping that note will keep me more focused.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I check my email like every 5 minutes... lol. Plus, if the TV is on, then I really get sidetracked.

Same here. Like you and Alan, I check my email frequently ... as if I'm looking for a reason to get out of doing what I am supposed to be focusing on!

And doing all those other "little" things—my "reasoning" is that I am tidying up so I can better focus on the important stuff. Oh, the subtle little deceipts we manage to inflict on ourselves.
