The Storm Brace a new invention

Postby Breck Whitworth » Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:29 pm

My name is Breck Whitworth and I am a High School Science Teacher in MS. I have invented a Hurricane Katrina tested Storm Brace for securing plywood or paneling over windows and glass doors in the event of a Hurricane or Tropical Storm. They require no nailing or drilling into your home or business. These are quick and easy to use and are extremely strong. They are also cost effective compared to storm shutters. Please go to my web site at www.stormbrace.com for more details. I believe these will take the market by storm, Pun intended.

Hi Breck,

Thanks for introducing us to your invention. It looks like a simple and effective solution. I live in Japan, which gets hit by typhoons in September and we have metal storm shutters over our most exposed upstairs balcony windows. I wonder if there would be a market here for your product, or a modified version of it.

The explanation on your website is clear and reads well, and the photos really help too.

Next step would be to make it easier to purchase the product (at least the brace-only version) online via Paypal or an equivalent service and start promoting your site.

For the purposes of posting on this forum, place your link in your signature file so that it appears every time you post a comment.

Best wishes,

David Hurley

Mr. Hurley,
I would love to get prepared to sell the brace only, over the internet but at this time my inventory is not sufficient to this. After this season I hope to have the capital to do this but as things are now I will just have enough for my area when a storm comes if it does.
Thanks for you advice it is good

Thanks for the info David. I hope I did it right. I would also like to reply to GT Bulmers advice about offering more insight about my storm brace or ask questions about marketing.
Being a school teacher, coming up with capital for my business is always difficult. What I need is an investor a partner or some way to finance this business.( without borrowing money) Based on what my last customer spent which was $385.00. If I could reach 5000 who would spend that, gross sales would be 1.9 million dollars. I know this product has great financial potential even if it is seasonal. Any advice anyone could give would be appreciated. Getting the word before the right people etc...

Hi David,

Thanks for sharing the link. I've also checked on Breck's website and it seems really a great invention to conquer the storm. :)

@Breck: Since you already have a great product to sell, your next target would be the easy navigation of the "purchase process" for your customers and to your convenience checking on your occurring sales. For that, you should integrate e-commerce plugins into your website to make it possible.

Read Tyrone Shum's posts here about e-commerce and it'll help you out:

I hope this helps!
