The Second Life Platform

Postby JBunion » Mon Jan 12, 2009 12:40 am

Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

Hi JBunion,

I've heard about the site. So are you currently a member? And more importantly, have you tried to open a store front in that virtual world?

Hello:

My spouse is employed in a university where several of the staff and alumni are involved with Second Life. Personally, I've only seen it in action a couple of brief times, but it does look interesting.

On her home computer, my spouse was having trouble with some of the Second Life graphics. I don't recall if she acquired a different graphics card, or just learned to put up with the problems. (Once, she had to walk around with no shirt on until she could resolve that problem! )

At least one other employee does have a storefront and "sells" virtual services and products for SL credits (can't remember what SL money is called).

I'd be interested in hearing more about Second Life from other forum members with experience or insight.

GT :)
