Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your job, but you're right, it could definitely be a blessing in disguise. What sort of experience and interests do you have? Is there any specific that you're thinking about at this time? The people here represent a lot of experience :) What sort of work have you done in the past??

Welcome to the forum and good luck with starting a business.

I'd second what Ideasuniversity said about Evan Carmichael and Takuya Hikichi's new ebook "Making your first million". It is pretty comprehensive and a great read for anybody about to get started. You can find out how to get a FREE pre-publication copy elsewhere on this forum - or send Evan a private message about it.

A couple of free ebooks I'd recommend are:

Dotcomology - the science of making money online. An in-depth look at Internet marketing by Stone Evans.

Harness The Power Of Article Marketing by Janet Wilson

Pretty much anything by Seth Godin, but especially Permission Marketing

Ready Fire Aim by Michael Masterson

Both of the above are available on Amazon

OK, that is just a taster to get you going!

Best wishes,

David Hurley

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the lay off. Times are really tough right now for anyone who isn't extremely wealthy. If you want to be your own boss and are willing to try sales, I'd like to talk to you about a lucrative reseller position that you could start with just a car, a smile, and a phone. I know sales isn't for everyone, but if you're willing to give it an honest try, 2 -3 sales per month could be a very good income. Let me know. Otherwise, be creative with what you know you already have going for you and I know you'll figure out a way to be a great entrepreneur!
