Can I Introduce Someone I Just Met?

Postby Takuya » Wed Apr 16, 2008 10:02 am

Hi Everyone,

I just had to do this -- my family just welcomed our first daughter (2nd child), Reina Hikichi to the world just last night.

It was such a joy to hold her and her tiny body in my arms and when I saw her, I thought to myself "wow, I wonder what she'd be like, may be an entrepreneur?"

Well, since I never used this section to introduce myself, I wanted to announce to the rest of community about my healthy new born.

Thanks for taking time and reading this thread,

Takuya

Congrats Takuya and I appreciate you sharing this news with us as it makes the forum members sort of like an extended part of your family, haha :)

Can I ask how you came about the name, Reina? Did you ever think of naming one of your children after a famous entrepreneur?

Well you'll definitely have to keep us posted about the small business training you provide for your kids

Thank you everyone. She will be a daddy's girl. Girls are so fun!

Kevin,

Names... I need to ALWAYS name my children by the way it can also be spelled in Japanese.

All of my kids are dual citizens and Japanese don't carry letters like, V, TH, L, and most words tend to end with A, I, U, E, O or so I choose REINA, which is a Japanese name, yet can be said in English or even in Spanish (means Queen I found out) in order to have passports issued with the same spelling.

My first boy is Kai - so once again, it sounds Japanese yet can be said in English. His middle name is Ichiro after the famous baseball player and I figured it should be his middle name instead of first because if you don't follow baseball, that's a hard name to remember.

So even if my wife (Chinese American) wants English names like Jack, Sam, Kevin, Andy .... I'd have to spell out Jakku, Samu, Kebin, Andii -- you know, bit different.

This way, REINA instead of more common RAYNA.

Takuya, You wife has great taste in names so I agree the next one should be called "Andii" - it'll work for a Boy or Girl name :)

Hi Takuya,

If her name is Queen, then she really will grow up as a 'Princess'.
Does she have a middle name too?

We wish you and your wife the best of health as well as the New Baby Reina.

When I look at babies, I often think like the Psalmist: ...you knit me together in my mother's womb.
.......because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Ps 139.13-14

Be blessed.

Hi Takuya,

I love the logic behind the naming of your children because it's like branding in business. Your kids have names that are easy to say and remember, yet they are spelled in a way that has cultural significance.

On a side note, I've found that many Asian people (i.e. former co-workers and even my own family members from Hong Kong) spell and pronounce my name as Kelvin, Calvin or Keven.

The importance of a name

Postby Ashish » Fri Apr 18, 2008 4:50 pm

Hi Takuya,

Sorry to be late on this.

I congratulate you and your family on this juvenile moment of your life. I haven't had this opportunity in my life yet but definitely it would have been a great and rejoicing moment as I have heard it from many.

I wish you all the luck and many more great moments with your new born Queen. and 'REINA' is for sure a good name.

It's good to see people sharing such a happy moments of their life here too.

On a side note... Ichiro is my favorite baseball player! But I'm sure you're son wouldn't want to be nick-named Itchy, which is what the great Ichiro is called in some quarters by non-Mariner fans, so best that its his middle name.
