I loved Pingfm, unfortunately it's no longer around...and there's nothing else comparable to that

Here are 5 things you can do to increase your traffic

1. Write keyword focused blog posts
2. Submit your best blog posts to link roundups in your niche and blog carnivals
3. Submit your best blog posts to Twitter, Facebook, etc..
4. Let your subscribers know that you posted a newsworthy post on your blog
5. Guest post on other blogs in your niche (popular, high traffic)...and of course link back to your blog

Thanks for posting these suggestions, Corrisa. Marketing is a proactive responsibility. We need to seek and follow-up with traffic methods and we need to work at it regularly. It takes determination and commitment.

Nice tips. I agree for all of those tips above. But the problem is there are too many competitors online. Talking about getting online traffic is talking about how to compete other websites, so our website can be popular. Those things above are the ways to compete them.

I don't have a blog directory as such, but here are two things I do:

1) For one of my blogs, each time I make a new post, I "ping" it to these FREE sources:
- ipings
- autopinger
-pingmyblog

Some of the blog sites are duplicated in these services, so I try to choose different sites from each service.

2) Link Directory Submitter Software: This is something you have to pay for (as low as $37). I've been using it for a few years. Blog directories are only one small category within the submitter directory.

You can also get Link Directory Submitter free if you are a member of the Affiliate Power Group. A recurring membership fee is required to be part of this group.

Hello, Carol:

My post that you quoted is very old now!

To find blogs related to your marketing niche or theme, simply do a search engine search using your main keywords. Check the sites that come up at the top of the search engine results pages.

To find blog directories, do a search engine search for blog directories.

To find general Internet business directories, do a search for website directories.

I am not confident that general business directories are as meaningful to the search engines as they once were. Perhaps high profile professional mainstream directories. However, I see directories as a form of advertising that helps to get your website out there.

Can you please tell me something about Zebra update that you've heard about?
I've tried to search it in Google couldn't get anything useful regarding Zebra Update of social media spam fighters. If you've read about it in some kinda web based source then please share the link.

At this point the Zebra update is either speculation or maybe even a complete myth. From everything I have seen thus far, it is just a rumor and has no real evidence to support it at all. It may very well be coming, I can't say for sure, but at this point it seems to be made up.

Hello Trent Brownrigg,
You're right, I've subscribed with Google's algorithms in RSS Feeds, and today I've got an email and there was an article regarding Zebra and this article is enough to prove that Zebra is just a rumor. Nothing more than a rumor.
