2010: Transform Your "What Ifs"!

Postby GT Bulmer » Fri Jan 01, 2010 5:20 pm

Hello, Forum Members and Visitors:

Here is an email I received that relates directly to the New Year. Read it, dwell on it and use it as inspiration for a massive transformation in 2010!

Make your “What if” your “What is!”
A message from Boyd C. Matheson

With the dawning of a new year, hope springs eternal and everyone is given the chance to begin anew. Regardless of the “What ifs” which were left on the table of 2009 as un-kept promises, unresolved relationship, unmet goals, undiscovered opportunities or unfulfilled dreams – 2010 holds no grudges and carries none of the negatives of the past forward with it.

This is the beginning of a new a day and a new decade – Could this be your chance to transform your “What ifs” into “What is?” Think about it:

What if you made 2010 your year?

What if you resolved to focus on realistic goals and pursued them with passion?

What if you put fear and uncertainty on the shelf this year and just went for it?

What if you stopped your negative thinking or pessimistic views of the world around you?

What if you refused to listen to negative voices, even if they are within your own head, and truly believed in your impossible dreams?

What if you looked for the good in every opportunity, every challenge and every person which crosses your way?

What if you developed greater self-discipline?

What if you played more with those you love and worried less about things beyond your control?

What if you rediscovered a passion, talent or gift you have set aside in the past and used it to make a difference for others?

What if you chose to bite your tongue more, speak in anger less, (if at all) and determined that everyone will leave your presence feeling better?

What if you turned the negative news and media off and instead filled your mind with the wisdom, wit and inspiration of the great minds from yesterday and today?

What if you chose to make a difference for at least one person every day?

What if you decided to slow down more often and disconnected from beeps, buzzers, tweets, alerts and emails?

What if you had desert first at least once a month?

What if you truly focused on who you are, where you want to go and what you want to become?

What if you began each day with a clear vision of what you will achieve?

What if you put procrastination away forever?

What if you chose to criticize less and compliment more and transformed yourself into a role-model instead of always being a critic?

What if you decided to smile more?

What if you spent 1% (14.4 minutes) of every 24-hour day improving yourself?

What if you attacked your goals, were resilience in the face of failure and refused to quit until success is yours?

What if?...

Happy New Year!

(End of Boyd's message)

Hello, Yinka and Colette:

Thank you for your comments. It is amazing, but sometimes all it takes is one little idea to ignite a whole chain of decisions and events that propel us to greater success. (You know) I am a fan of motivational and inspirational materials and resources — this post was a particularly thought-provoking one! Enjoy ... and prosper.

Hi GT

Thanks for this post. These what if's are so much better than making New Year's resolutions and are far more likely to keep you motivated and on track of your goals.

Hello, Michelle and Mary:

Thanks for your comments.

Michelle, that's a great way to look at it: the "What If's" as listed are great motivational triggers that might be more effective in the long run than Resolutions which may not be as well defined or as empowering.

This is amazing! A successful mindset is more valuable than just about anything else.

And these questions help to create that successful mindset. They're really great coaching questions! I'm going to ponder these for a while :)
