Kevin, have a great time and a safe trip! We'll keep an eye out on the forum for ya!

Tanny, no problem. Hopefully everything will get sorted out, and you'll soon have a better idea of what your schedule will be.

Kevin: Hope you're having a great time! Don't get too close to the Falls - or any barrells - during that bachelor party!

Tanny: Hang in there. I'm sure it is often a little confused and stressful the first few weeks. Hopefully it will level off and things will become "normal."

Some of you know that, although it's not truly a vacation, I will be away from home from Sept. 6 - 13 visiting my daughter, her husband and their two small children. They live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - one province to the east of my home province of Alberta. We are resuming some house renovations for them that we started when we were there in June.

I am taking my computer and I will check in here at the forum occasionally, but it may not be as often as usual.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the well wishes and for looking after the forums in my absence! My vacation was a lot of fun and much needed  I've only started to get caught up with everything today.

Some of the highlights of my trip included trying the tasting menu at Jean Georges Nougatine and being only 1 of 3 fans who got an autograph from tennis player Daniela Hantuchova (but at the cost of minor heat stroke from waiting for over an hour in the blistering sun around 1-2pm). It was also cool to see tennis star Caroline Wozniacki reach the US Open Finals this year, especially since I was able to get a picture and autograph from her last year (as seen here viewtopic.php?f=11&p=14170 ).

Hey, Tanny:

Don't know if you'll see this before your return, but have a great vacation!

@Kevin ... Great to have you back. Aside from the heat stroke, sounds like a fantatstic time you had!

As an entrepreneur, how much vacation time do you guys give yourselves? A standard 2 weeks? Or as much as you feel like  ? And when does too much "vacation time" become counter-productive?

Standard 2 weeks? Isn't the standard 4 weeks?

Hi Anelly,

For 2 companies I've worked for in the past, newbies usually start off with only 2 weeks vacation time. As time goes by and you can slowly earn 3 weeks (or more) off per year, etc. 4 weeks standard would be awesome though (I thought only managers and higher ups would get that much) :D

I came to a point in life that I do what best for me and if I want to take a vacation I will take. The good side is that my boss always tells me "it's quiet right now, do you want to go early today?" How can I say no to this question!? :)

We can take about 16 days of vacation where I work and I always take more 3-5 day more. I don't care because having fun is worth it.

Hi, Kevin:

I've never been a vacation-kind-of guy, even when working in the corporate world. As a home-based entrepreneur, my vacation time is largely dictated by my wife's vacation from her job. However, we are homebodies, so "travelling" for us is mainly visiting a daughter and her family in another province.

I don't keep "regular" hours. I sit down at my computer about 9am most mornings; break for lunch and supper (usually a few hours at supper); then keep doing computer stuff until midnight or 1 am. It sounds like a lot of hours, but most of the time (unless faced with deadlines) I just work at a comfortable pace, which I enjoy.

So, I don't really need or want vacations. I enjoy what I do (most of the time) and don't feel the need to take breaks away. And when we do "travel" I take my computer with me and spend a few minutes here and there tending to Internet Marketing things.

A year has 365 days so having 30 free days doesn't seems so much. I really feel sorry for those you only have 2 weeks of vacation.
